We just had a major ice storm that lasted all weekend and literally everything is glazed in ice. Our dish is on the roof of our house and I can't really tell how much if any ice is on it. Starting today, the only channels we can get are the lower ones. Anything past channel 70, we get error 771 (signal loss). I called DirecTV tech support tonight they were almost 100% sure that it was because of ice on our dish causing signal interference and said really the only thing we can do is wait for the ice to melt, which should solve the problem. However, it's only going to be getting colder here and that ice probably won't be melting for a while. I've heard of using a blow dryer on the dish, but there's absolutely no place we can put a ladder to reach our dish to do that because of all the ice. My husband and I are missing some of our favorite shows because of this. I know it's a long shot, but does anybody have any other ideas that we could try? We have the Genie whole home DVR and we already tried resetting the main DVR receiver with no luck.
Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!
