Ok I am working on my parents house Direct tv set up. They have a Genie HD receiver HR34-700. And a Samsung smart tv with RVU ability.
The Genie/Receiver is in the upstairs living room with its own tv, and the samsung tv with RVU is in the garage about 30 feet away. From the directions I found online I have to set up the genie to create an rvu client for the tv. It gives you a code you then have to enter into the rvu source part of the samsung tv. When I tried this the RVU option in the samsung HD tvs Source menu would not highlight, though it does pick up wireless internet and a server. (it is a smart tv) .
Anyway I looked and it said the Genie part has to be activated by a direct tv person. I called Direct tv, the person had very little understanding on what the RVU is. She had to look a lot up. She says that they should normally be able to activate that part of the Genie via their computers remotely. However she could not turn it on. She then set up an appointment for a guy to come out and do it. But when the guy came out, he told my mom he had no idea on a RVU feature and didn't do anything.
Is there any way to activate the RVU via the settings menu on the genie so it broadcasts to the rvu able tv? So I can bypass another guy who has no idea what an RVU is coming out?
