Also as you found out the DIRECTV® remote is a very basic, bare bones remotes. Using the Logitech would be a lot better.

Since you are removing the HDDVR, it should be a simple swap. LEAVE the power inserter where it is as it needs to be connected to a certain port on the switch/splitter.
